This murukku variety is usually prepared during the festivals, especially during Diwali.
Murukku’s name has derived from its shape murukku means Twisted in Tamil. Murukku is a famous snack in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh region in India. Varieties of Murukku are Ribbon Pakoda, Thenkuzhal, etc.
Murukku is also called as Chakli .
Since I have made this recipe for my kids I have reduced the amount of red chili powder, if you like spicy snacks increase the red chili powder.
Feel free to substitute Ghee / Clarified Butter with Coconut oil / Regular Cooking oil to make this delicious crispy crunchy snack recipe for your Vegan friends and family.
